Vinyasa to Yin Yoga : Vin to Yin
Vinyasa to Yin Yoga : Vin to Yin. Vinyasa is a dynamic Hatha yoga practice. We could translate it into one breath and one movement. By virtue of the Yin this could be labeled as Yang Yoga. Yin Yoga, is a slow pace practice, and postures are held sometimes even beyond 5 minutes. This December my schedule will have two Vin to Yin appointments : Monday and Wednesday at 18:30 – 19:30. (Rome Time)
Why Vinyasa to Yin Yoga?
A student requested it: she felt the need to stretch out the day after long hours in front of her laptop, with some movement, without losing the yin yoga effect.
A side note about Vinyasa to Yin Yoga. According to the tradition, Yin Yoga should be practiced without warming up. If you get super excited about your standing series, you might want to push too deep into a pigeon pose because you feel sufficiently warmed up. This could lead to injury. I recommend that you not approach it this way.
I invite you to the Vinyasa to Yin Yoga, a practice where we start paying attention to transitions, how we move, both physically and mentally, from one posture to another at a different pace. Transitioning from rhythmic pace (vinyasa) to a slower one (yin) has taught me how to manage both aspects of Yang and Yin. I find Vin to Yin (as well as Yin to Vin) to be very pleasant and peaks my curiosity.

Practicing yoga goes beyond the postures. When I lead a lesson my intention is that the practice will encourage curiosity in students so they can have information and awareness about the way they operate. When you observe the fluctuations of the mind in response to movement, you can discover yourself every day. Yoga is very practical and truly honest too. It doesn’t hide anything from you, even though we are so good at trying to hide ourselves. The practice of yoga makes you see this too! I believe it is one of the most effective practices in one’s journey towards personal well-being.
